Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad - Winter

Relive history with the sights and sounds of yesteryear for a truly spectacular journey on board the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Experience the adventure of traveling by a coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive on the same tracks miners, cowboys and settlers of the old west took over a century ago. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad winds through spectacular & breathtaking canyons in the remote wilderness of the two-million acre San Juan National Forest for an unforgettable year round adventure.

The "Winter Cascade" train daily round-trip service to Cascade Canyon runs November 21st through May 2nd, 2008 (Winter schedule varies by day).

The train leaves Durango at 10:00 AM and stops for a 60 minute break by the rushing Animas River at the Cascade Station. Light lunch items are available on the concession car on board the train. Following the break, the train departs Cascade at 1:00 PM and arrives in Durango at 3:05 PM.

With the regular fare you are seated in the closed Vintage Coach Car which is available for $49 per adult and $29 per child (ages 5-11). A 1st Class parlor car fare (age 21+) is available for $89, and includes a complimentary non-alcoholic beverages. Full-bar service is available.

Note: Children under 5 are free if seated on an adult's lap. If a seat is required, you must purchase a child's ticket.

Elegant Private Cars For a once in a lifetime experience, charter an elegant 1880's coach. These classic vintage cars will be pulled behind one of our regularly scheduled trains for a very special experience. All Private Cars are rented exclusively to the booking party. Each car is connected to the end of the train and there is no walk-through traffic. These cars are chartered based on availability of the specific car and train availability.
